                                                     SUMMARY OF WEATHER

Week’s Rainfall :  

Excess: Nilgiris district.

Scanty: Coimbatore district.

No rain: Ariyalur, Chennai, Cuddalore, Dharmapuri, Dindugul, Erode, Kanchipuram, Kanyakumari, Karur, Krishnagiri, Madurai, Nagapattinam, Namakkal, Perambalur, Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, Salem, Sivagangai, Thanjavur, Theni, Tirunelveli, Tiruppur, Tiruvallur, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruvarur, Tiruchirapalli, Tuticorin, Vellore, Villupuram and Virudunagar districts and Puducherry.

 

Season’s Rainfall for the period from 01.01.10 to 28.02.10:

 

Excess: Kanyakumari district.

 

Normal: Perambalur district.

 

Deficient: Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Nilgiris, Thanjavur, Tirunelveli, Tiruvarur, Tuticorin and Vellore districts and Puducherry.

 

Scanty: Ariyalur, Chennai, Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Dindigul, Erode, Kanchipuram, Karur, Krishnagiri, Madurai, Namakkal, Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, Salem, Sivagangai, Theni, Tiruppur, Tiruvallur, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruchirapalli, Villupuram and Virudunagar districts.

 

Chief synoptic features and its associated weather:

 

          A trough on sea level chart ran from coastal Andhrapradesh to North Kerala across Rayalaseema and South interior Karnataka on 25th February; it ran from coastal Andhrapradesh to extreme South Peninsula across Telangana, Rayalaseema and interior Tamilnadu on 26th February.

           An upper air trough/cyclonic circulation from coastal Andhrapradesh to North Kerala and extended upto 1.5 Kilometer above sea level on 25th February. Another upper air trough extended from Telangana to extreme South Peninsula in the lower tropospheric level on 27th February.

 

Temperatures: The maximum temperatures were appreciably above normal at many places over the State on 1st and 03rd March; at a few places on 02nd March and generally normal over the remaining parts of the State during the week.

 

         The minimum temperatures were appreciably above normal at a few places over Tamilnadu on 25th and 26th February; at one or two places on 27th February and 1st March; above normal at one or two places on 28th February. They were appreciably below normal at many places on 3rd March and at one or two places on 02nd March and they were nearly normal over the remaining parts of the State during the week. 

 

Rainfall:  Isolated rainfall occurred over the State on 25th and 27th February and dry weather prevailed during the remaining days of the week.
