Regional Meteorological Centre located at New No.6 & Old No.50, College Road, Chennai-600 006 is the nodal office for the public to obtain any information pertaining to India Meteorological department and its various offices located in the four southern states, viz Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamilnadu.
At Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai-6 , a Right to Information Cell has been functioning to meet IMD’s requirements under RTI act.

The fee for the supply of information is Rs.10/- per request. The same can be paid by cash at RMC Chennai during working hours of working days OR a Demand Draft drawn in favour of Assistant Meteorologist (Cash & Accounts), Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai-600006, for the appropriate amount, may be enclosed with the request for information. Duplication charges are extra.
Requests pertaining to weather related enquiries do not come under the ambit of RTI Act. They are copyrighted and priced. Such enquiries may be addressed to "Deputy Director General of Meteorology, Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai."
