WEATHER WARNING FOR FISHERMEN

 

ISSUED AT 1400 HRS IST OF 14.05.2021

 

 

The well marked low pressure area over Lakshadweep area & adjoining southeast Arabian Sea moved east­northeastwards, concentrated into a Depression and lay centered at 0830 hours IST of today, the 14th May, 2021 over Lakshadweep area near latitude 10.5°N and longitude 72.3°E, about 80 km south­southwest of Amini Divi, 360 km west­southwest of Kannur (Kerala), 1170 km south­southeast of Veraval (Gujarat). It is very likely to intensify into a Deep Depression during next 12 hours and into a Cyclonic Storm during subsequent 12 hours. It is very likely to intensify further and move initially north­northeastwards till today evening. It would then move north­northwestwards and reach near Gujarat coast by 18th May morning.

KARNATAKA: 


Day 1 (14.05.2021): Squally weather with wind speed reaching 45-55 Kmph gusting to 65 Kmph is very likely over southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining Lakshadweep – Maldives area, off Kerala coast and equatorial Indian Ocean.
Day 2 (15.05.2021): Squally weather with wind speed reaching 50- 60 Kmph gusting to 70 kmph is very likely over southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining Lakshadweep – Maldives area, off Kerala-Karnataka coast and equatorial Indian Ocean. It is likely to increase gradually becoming Gale wind speed reaching 70 – 80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph over east-central Arabian Sea and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep area.
Day 3 (16.05.2021): Gale wind speed reaching 70 – 80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph over east-central Arabian Sea and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep area.

HIGH WAVE WARNING ISSUED BY INCOIS:

SOUTH TAMILNADU: High waves in the range of 2.8 - 3.8 meters are forecasted during 08:30 hours on 14-05-2021 to 23:30 hours of 15-05-2021 along the coast of Southern Tamil Nadu from Kolachal to Dhanushkodi.

Surface Current speeds vary between 45 - 85 cm/sec.

 KERALA: High waves in the range of 2.8 - 3.8 meters are forecasted during 17:30 hours on 13-05-2021 to 23:30 hours of 15-05-2021 along the coast of Kerala from Pozhiyoor to Kasargod.

Surface Current speeds vary between 47 - 82 cm/sec.

 KARNATAKA: High waves in the range of 2.9 - 4.2 meters are forecasted during 08:30 hours on 14-05-2021 to 23:30 hours of 15-05-2021 along the coast of Karnataka from Mangalore to Karwar.

Surface Current speeds vary between 44 - 81 cm/sec. 

LAKSHADWEEP AREA: High waves in the range of 3.0 - 4.5 meters are forecasted during 17:30 hours on 13-05-2021 to 23:30 hours of 15-05-2021 along the coast of Lakshadweep Islands from Minicoy to Bitra.

Surface Current speeds vary between 45 - 100 cm/sec.
