WEEKLY WEATHER REPORT FOR TAMILNADU AND PUDUCHERRY FOR

THE WEEK ENDING  25TH  JUNE  2014  / 04TH ASHADHA, 1936 (SAKA)

SUMMARY OF WEATHER

 

Week’s rainfall:

 

Excess:            Coimbatore and  Theni districts.

 

Normal:          Nilgiris, Salem districts and  Puducherry. 

 

Deficient:        Chennai, Cuddalore, Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli districts.

 

Scanty:           Dindigul, Kancheepuram, Krishnagiri, Namakkal, Pudukkottai, Sivaganga, Thanjavur, Tiruppur, Tiruvallur, Vellore and Villupuram districts.

 

No Rain:     Ariyalur, Dharmapuri, Erode, Karur, Madurai, Nagapattinam, Perambalur, Ramanathapuram, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruvarur, Toothukudi, Tiruchirapalli, Virudhunagar districts and Karaikal.

 

The Chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimeters are:

19/06/2014:Devala (Nilgiris Dist) 7, Gudalur Bazaar (Nilgiris Dist) 6, Valparai pto (Coimbatore Dist), Valparai taluk office (Coimbatore Dist) 5 each, Chinnakalar (Coimbatore Dist) 3, Periyar (Theni Dist) 2, Naduvattam (Nilgiris Dist), Kundha Bridge (Nilgiris Dist) and Uthagamandalam AWS (Nilgiris Dist) 1 each.

 

20/06/2014: Valparai pto 9, Valparai taluk office 7, Gudalur Bazaar, Naduvattam 6 each, Chinnakalar 5, Periyar (Theni Dist), Devala 4 each, Thuckalay (Kanyakumari Dist), Pechiparai (Kanyakumari Dist), Bhoothapandy (Kanyakumari Dist), Nagercoil (Kanyakumari Dist) 2 each, Shencottah (Tirunelveli Dist), Kuzhithurai (Kanyakumari Dist), Uthagamandalam AWS, Mylaudy (Kanyakumari Dist) and Pollachi (Coimbatore Dist) 1 each.

Excess:            Coimbatore, Dharmapuri and Theni  districts.

 

Normal:          Chennai, Erode, Kancheepuram,  Karur,  Krishnagiri,  Namakkal, Salem, Tiruvallur, Vellore, Villupuram, Virudhunagar districts,  Karaikal and

                      Puducherry.

 

Deficient:        Cuddalore,  Dindigul, Nagapattinam, Nilgiris,  Perambalur,  Pudukkottai, Tiruvannamalai and Toothukudi districts. 

 

Scanty:           Ariyalur, Kanyakumari, Madurai, Sivaganga, Thanjavur, Tirunelveli, Tiruppur, Tiruvarur and Tiruchirapalli  districts.

 

No Rain:         Ramanathapuram district.

 

Chief synoptic features and its associated weather:          

 

            Last week’s feeble off-shore trough  was seen from south Gujarat to North Kerala coast on 19th ; from Maharashtra to Kerala coast on 20th  and from Karnataka to Kerala coast on 21st and 22nd.

            Moderate to strong westerlies prevailed over the state in lower tropospheric level from 23rd to 25th during the week. 

 

Rainfall:  Rainfall occurred at isolated places over the state during the week.
