WEEKLY WEATHER REPORT FOR TAMILNADU AND PUDUCHERRY FOR

THE WEEK ENDING  19TH  MARCH  2014  /  22ND   PHALGUNA, 1935 (SAKA)

SUMMARY OF WEATHER

 

Week’s rainfall:

  

No Rain:      Ariyalur, Chennai, Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Dharmapuri, Dindigul,  Erode, Kancheepuram, Kanyakumari,  Karur, Krishnagiri, Madurai, Nagapattinam, Namakkal, Nilgiris,  Perambalur, Pudukottai, Salem,  Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, Thanjavur, Theni,  Tirunelveli, Toothukudi,  Tiruchirapalli,  Tiruppur, Tiruvallur, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruvarur,  Vellore,  Villupuram and Virudhunagar districts, Karaikal and  Puducherry. 

 

Season’s rainfall for the period from 01.03.2014 to 19.03.2014:  

Excess:        Coimbatore, Krishnagiri, Nilgiris, Tirunelveli and  Vellore districts.  

Normal:       Salem  and Theni districts.  

Deficient:     Dindigul,  Toothukudi  and Virudhunagar districts. 

Scanty:        Cuddalore, Dharmapuri, Erode, Kanyakumari, Ramanathapuram,  Sivaganga and Tiruchirapalli districts.

 

No Rain:      Ariyalur, Chennai, Kancheepuram, Karur,  Perambalur, Pudukottai, Madurai, Nagapattinam, Namakkal,  Thanjavur,  Tiruppur,  Tiruvallur, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruvarur and  Villupuram districts,  Puducherry and Karaikal.

 

Chief synoptic features and its associated weather: 

 

A trough of low pressure was seen over Southwest Bay off Sri Lanka coast on 18th.  An upper air trough/ cyclonic circulation extending upto 0.9 Kilometres above sea level was seen over Sri Lanka and neighbourhood in 19th.  Light to moderate easterlies/ northeasterlies prevailed over the state on 13th  and 15th.   

 

Temperature:  

The maximum temperature were appreciably above normal at a few places on 19th, above normal at one or two places on 14th , 17th and 18th, below normal at a few places on 13th and 15th and at one or two places over the state on 16th

 

The minimum temperature were generally below normal over the state during this week being  appreciably so at many places on 15th, at a few places on 16th and 17th, at one or two places on 13th and 14th and were below normal at few places during the remaining days.

 

Rainfall: Dry weather prevailed on over the state during this week.
